Meet our leadership
Alejandro (Alex) D. Diaz
Alejandro Diaz is an executive leader and strategic thinker, who leverages business platforms and relationships into innovative, profitable new ventures. He has excelled in a distinguished career as a Certified General Contractor in the state of Florida, leading major airport construction initiatives and security system implementations for more than 20 years.
In his current role as Principal of AERO Construction & Consultants, LLC (2014 to Present), Mr. Diaz has directed more than $28M in capital project awards across government, commercial, and residential sectors. He leads the full scope of business development, construction project management, competitive bidding, and procurement. His scope further encompasses overseeing technical, engineering, and field staff across the US: HI, CA, NY, FL, DC, WA, MA, and GA.
“My role was to provide design recommendations,” Alex says, “and ultimately ensure a fully-functional security system design.” Mr. Diaz also interfaced with the logistics team to ensure on-time delivery of the equipment, liaised between the permitting department and design team, and wrote contracts, reviewed bids, and approved change orders.
“It’s important to me to maintain a high energy level,” he says, “which is how I’m able to manage such complex projects and coordinate so many stakeholders.”
With Parsons Corporation’s Transportation Group – Aviation Division (2010 to 2014), Mr. Diaz was the Project Manager on a $65M contract. He directed the security system integration in each airport, interfaced with the Airport Authority, and collaborated with the Passenger Screening Program to ensure that design satisfied the most current design specifications.
On the Parsons Corporation’s $1.2B Miami International Airport – North Terminal Development contract (2005 to 2010), Alex served as Project Manager, leading the project team opening 25 domestic and international gates, coordinating development of the $100M mechanical-electrical-plumbing system, and liaising between the project owner, owner’s representative, and the architecture/engineering firm. “This was a major initiative that required me to constantly coordinate with airport security, airside operations, and the TSA,” he says. Mr. Diaz also led the $1.7M Aircraft Maintenance East Control Zone project.
Proud of his academic credentials, Alex earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Florida International University (2007). In addition to holding a Certified General Contractor’s license, he also holds OSHA Certifications.
Alex is committed to community service, having participated in Autism Speaks, Fillabag, and Habitat For Humanity.
A dedicated family man, Alex has been married for 11 years to Lucy Lopes Diaz, a speech pathologist who holds a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders Sciences & Services from Florida International University. They are parents to Alejandro Joaquin (10) and Liam Andres (8), both students at St Philip’s Episcopal School in Coral Gables, FL. The family lives in Miami, FL, and they spend their leisure time biking, boating, and travelling domestically and internationally.
